Inclined Inventory

I started a collection
not completed until
marriage and aging
filled up my attention.

I kept it in a jewelry
box and in a garden
on a closet’s top shelf
watered and flowering.

I assigned each piece
a name and a place
in an order imposed by
the shapes on my face.

I listed and displayed
by date and location
objects heavy in meaning
of my own creation.
